In order to provide the best possible mental health counseling, The Personal Growth Center does not contract with insurance companies.  The insurance companies of today have the philosophy of the fast drive-thru approach for mental health counseling.  The one "cookie-cutter" fits everyone.

At The Personal Growth Center, we  believe in old-fashioned, one-on-one mental health counseling to properly assess, plan treatment goals, and monitor progress.  We believe in healing once and for all. We do not believe in shortcuts to optimum mental health counseling.  Mental health is multi-layered, multi-dimensional, and complex – and so are you.

Our mental and emotional health is first and foremost to living the highest quality of life possible. Unfortunately, we find many of our incoming clients complain the counselor was too busy taking notes and not paying attention, that work was not completed, not getting anything out of the counseling, have been misdiagnosed, not adequately assessed, suffering many months and/or years due to the aforementioned.  Here at The Personal Growth Center, with our many years of experience, training, and on-going state-of-the-art techniques, make every effort to make it very personally tailored to your unique needs and promise the highest quality of mental health counseling

Whenever insurance is used, information (such as your diagnosis) is available to the insurance company and sometimes to employers. Insurance companies often ask for detailed personal information about clients from therapists in order to make payment decisions.   This can undermine the sense of privacy and trust necessary for effective counseling. When clients private-pay, there is significantly more privacy and confidentiality.

*YOU WANT TO CHOOSE YOUR OWN THERAPIST
Insurance companies require clients to choose a therapist from their preferred list. Some people find these limitations unacceptable. Most clients prefer to work with a therapist who comes highly recommended by someone they know. 
 
*YOU WANT TO CHOOSE THE TYPE AND LENGTH OF TREATMENT
Insurance companies make unilateral decisions about important aspects of psychotherapy. Such as the type of counseling, the length of counseling, and the type and the dose/use of medication. Often people are referred to self-help groups because it is more cost effective. Whereas personalized counseling is focused on your specific needs.

*YOU WANT TO CONTROL THE COURSE OF YOUR TREATMENT
With insurance your counseling sessions must be pre-approved. An insurance employee evaluates the severity of your needs, your motivation and your progress. With this information, the type of counseling and number of sessions are often determined by people with no clinical experience. 

*YOU WANT TO BE “LABEL FREE”
Whenever insurance is used for counseling, the treatment must be “medically necessary." With private-payment you are free to seek help  for any reason you choose. People use counseling for personal growth, for help coping with stressful situations, for marriage and family difficulties, for life transitions, as well as for many other reasons.

*YOU WANT THE ABILITY TO OBTAIN INSURANCE IN THE FUTURE
When using insurance, your diagnosis, your medication, and your private information is entered to a computer database. Insurance companies require therapists to provide details about a client’s history, symptoms, and progress. This information is legally available to companies that provide life, health, and disability insurance.

Private-payment allows us to provide you with the highest quality counseling services and the highest levels of privacy, with your best interests at heart.

Payments are due at the time of each session.  Cash and check are accepted for payment.
We also offer discount plans in blocks of service.  Reduced fee services are available on a limited basis.
